SKY

The Sky over Stockholm is a mixed-media painting by Ludmila Christeseva exploring belonging, migration and emotional memory through the universal image of the sky. Through abstract panoramic compositions, the artist creates a metaphorical landscape shaped by personal experience, displacement and cultural transition.

Within layers of cobalt blue tones and organically blended colours, the viewer discovers leaves, birds and webs of intertwining branches slowly emerging from abstraction. Working in a unique self-developed technique, Christeseva incorporates fragments of newspapers and contemporary news imagery into the surface of the painting, gradually covering them with translucent layers of vibrant colour until the original narratives become impossible to read.

The work transforms the sky into a poetic and borderless space shared by all humanity – a place where political realities, emotional memory and personal identity dissolve into colour, rhythm and light.
